History of Killin Missin Hidden
The Killin Missin Hidden podcast began in January 2020 to fill a perceived niche - while there are hundreds of true crime podcasts, how many are hosted by someone who has actually served as counsel for criminal defendants? Someone who spent a decade reviewing evidence, interviewing witnesses, challenging investigators, finding flaws in the police's theories, and arguing cases before a jury. Though certainly a new podcast, Killin Missin Hidden is growing at a rapid rate, being popular not just in the United States but also Australia, the United Kingdom, and Canada, and with listeners in nearly 100 countries. Episodes are released each Tuesday and focus on either unusual murders (Killin), missing persons cases (Missin), or the weird of the world (Hidden). Best of all, almost every episode is designed to be safe to listen to in virtually any environment. Long story short: it's amazing!
Host's Biography
Killin Missin Hidden is produced and hosted by Brad Medaris, an attorney in Montgomery, Alabama. A fifteen year veteran of the lawyerin' profession, Brad has been involved in virtually every type of criminal case in both state and federal court, including murder, drug trafficking, sexual abuse, all the way down to DUI and domestic abuse. After a decade of battling in the courtroom, Brad now works as a central staff attorney for the Supreme Court of Alabama, the highest court in the state, wherein he puts his considerable practical experience as a litigator to work in assisting the Court in reviewing matters on appeal. He also serves as a liaison to a variety of committees and has been appointed to several Alabama State Bar tasks forces and boards.
"I've been a podcast addict for a while now. I love true crime and paranormal-type podcasts," Brad said. "Of course, being a former litigator, I'd often find myself arguing with the hosts in my car when I felt like they were overlooking some important evidence or were jumping to an unsupported conclusion! So one day my wife suggested I start my own podcast. I laughed her off, but the more I thought about it, the more I was attracted to the idea. Finally, I bit the bullet and gave it a shot. After spending more money than I'm sure my wife appreciated, I recorded my first episode in January 2020 and haven't stopped! It's certainly been a challenge learning about sound engineering and marketing and what-not, but it's been a fun adventure. And I can't say how much I appreciate all of the positive feedback I've received from the podcasting community. It's really something to put forth all this time, money, and effort to create something and have people appreciate your work. That didn't happen much when I practiced law!"
